Thursday, March 1^st from 7-9PM at Memorial Junior High School there will be a fashion show featuring all of the latest formal wear trends. The proceeds from this event will go to the Brandon Shima Foundation Against Bullying and the victim’s families of the Chardon High School shooting. Tickets will be sold at the door. Admission is $10 and includes a T-shirt, or $5 without a T-shirt.

Sponsors of this event include Expressions Bridal and Formal, Jenniffer & Co. Salon and Spa, Jesse Web Entertainment, American Commodore Tuxedos, and Virginia Marti College of Art and Design.

Brandon Shima was a Mentor High School Student who passed away suddenly last year. Brandon was known by his classmates and his peers to be the Protector, the one to watch over everyone and always ensure everyone was safe. To quote a message that was left by a classmate on Brandon’s Facebook Tribute Page, “Brandon would always be the one to stick up for those that usually do not get stuck up for and he would be their friend.” It was because of Brandon’s beliefs and what he stood for that inspired the foundation’s motto to Connect and Protect. The foundations idea is to get his message into the schools, raise awareness and empower students to get involved. It will help to start programs and student Connection Communities that will keep anti-bullying relevant and the idea that they as individuals can make a difference; encouraging them to come up with their own ideas and implementing them in their schools to keep themselves Connected to one another and seeing to it that they are Protecting each other along the way.

In the wake of the recent tragedy in Chardon, Brandon’s message is more important than ever. Jennifer Pealer, owner of Jenniffer & Company Salon & Spas explained, “As a community, it is our duty to reach out and help those in need. Through Brandon’s foundation programs can be implemented into schools to ensure a safe environment for our children.”

Clothes

Peplum Tops - My favourite alternative to the humble t-shirt or tank next year will be the peplum top. It is inspired by the 1950s ultimate feminine silhouette, defining the waist to make the body more hourglass, or creating the effect for those lacking in natural Marilyn curves. Our lady straw poll suggests that this could be a win-win for all women's body shapes.

Statement Pencil - Pencil this trend into your shopping list for 2012! Nothing hugs the hips like a classic pencil skirt and like the peplum top, it does wonders for showing of your curves and defining the silhouette. Moving on from last season, the 2012 pencil skirt is seen in bold statement patterns and unexpected materials that will lift it into something unexpected and special. Day 3 Miami

Day three in Miami was full of education and fun. The stylists attended a look and learn session. Top stylists in the industry explained specific color techniques utilizing the new colors from fascinature, the trend for next year. The stylists are very eager to share their new knowledge with everyone!

Yesterday evening, all of the stylists from North America and Canada gathered at Mansion Night Club for a huge party. As you can imagine, everyone had a wonderful time!

Day 2 Miami!

Yesterday was the final part of the Color Zoom competition. The finalists had to re-create their looks at the Miami Convention Center. Celebrity Stylists and Artists judges the competition. The winners were announced at a gala that evening.

2,600 stylists gathered for the event that was held in a transformed room at the convention center. Each person was welcomed to a beautiful place setting and a delicious three course meal.

The event was extremely entertaining starting out with dancers and acrobats. Next years trend, fascinature, was announced with live models. The trend encompasses the innocence of nature with the vibrancy of fantasy.

Nick Arrojo, a famous celebrity stylist, from the show "What Not to Wear" presented a series of his work. The series was inspired by New York glam and mobster Miami in the 1970's.

After dinner, the finalists from each category, and each country, were announced and presented. The winners from the three categories: partner, new talent, and creative were announced.

Following the presentation the stylists from all over the world were moved to a different area with a dance floor and full bar. The family of stylists danced and celebrated for the rest of the evening.

The Stylists First Day in Miami!

The seven stylists arrived at the luxurious Renaissance Eden Roc hotel around 1:30 PM yesterday. Stylists from around the entire world that utilize the Goldwell color and products are at the event.The stylists were greeted by lots of wonderful treats when they arrived including the Goldwell 2012 Color Zoom Trend Book!

After a delicious lunch on the beach the stylists went up to their rooms to prepare for the White Party.

The White Party was in the grand ballroom area of the hotel. When the stylists all arrived to the party they were transported back in time. The ambience of the party was that of a classy 1920s cocktail party. Delicious food, delectable desserts, and a full bar was available. The finalists of Color Zoom 2011 in the US and Canada were presented and applauded. The grand prize winner of the competition will be announced today. The CEO of Goldwell spoke and explained that they are one family of stylists. The party went on and everyone danced the night away.

The main focus of the event is the ColorZoom 2011 competition. This international competition brings together the top stylists from around the world. Each year, a different trend is emphasized and stylists build off of the trend utilizing their skills to create a masterpiece. Several top stylists in the competition have already been announced at a national level. The international results will be announced in Miami.

Lake Health is proud to announce its first ever Bra Recycling Drive!

Lake Health and the Lake Health Salon Alliance are partnering with The Bra Recyclers, a textile recycling organization based out of Arizona, who will take these bras and will be donated directly to women escaping domestic violence. However, if the bra has lived its life it will be deconstructed and recycled and any revenue generated will then be donated to local organizations benefiting women.

Hair

Jennifer Aniston's new cut has been quite a popular choice for a new look. Since it hits just below the shoulders it is a great option for someone who wants a change but still wants some hair to play with. Her face framing layers are fun and playful. Notice her color is very soft and natural looking. Stripes and drastic contrast is out.

Braids are super easy and very romantic. The side swept braid has been seen all over the runways. Curl some of the hair that falls out on the opposite side for a dressier style.

Celebs and models have been parting their hair in the middle to accentuate their high cheek bones and give a more sculpted appearance. This is a great look to try because it requires no commitment.

Makeup

Shimmery metal's without the tinkerbell "too much" eye shadows are very popular. They are appealing for every eye color because they give a healthy, young, appearance by making the whites of your eyes pop!

Curly Hair

The very first rule when it comes to curly hair is..embrace it! Why fight it when you can flaunt it? Curly hair looks best when cropped to the face or a long cut with a special layered cut. When left long, curly hair needs to be cut differently with alternating lengths of layers to avoid the "rooftop" haircut.

Be sure to ask your stylist to show you exactly what product to use and how to utilize your diffuser to achieve frizz free curls.

When it comes to curly hair moisture is key. Be sure to use a hydrating shampoo and conditioner as well as avoid products with alcohol.

Straight Hair

Just because your hair is straight does not mean it needs to be lifeless! Layers are key here. Right now the style is the length above or slightly below the collarbone as currently shown on Jennifer Aniston. Face framing layers and fringe can do wonders for your face shape. Make a Difference in Lake County!

United Way of Lake County recently has learned that there is a shortage of taxable items in food pantries. These are the essential items in grocery stores that food stamps will not pay for but families need desperately.

A cut in recent funding has led to a county-wide emergency need for the most basic of taxable items, including:

toilet paper
diapers
personal hygiene items such as toothpaste and deodorant
laundry detergent
dish soap
feminine hygiene products

While our regular Feed Lake County drive boosted pantry reserves, we fell short of meeting the overall need. In addition to these taxable items, pantries need more food during the summer months. That's when families struggle most because children are not in school and not receiving the daily lunches that schools provide.

You can help!

3 Ways You Can Help Feed Lake County on Day of Caring

1. The number one way you can make a difference is to send a donation to United Way of Lake County (please mark Feed Lake County in the memo section). Mail your check to 9285 Progress Parkway in Mentor, 44060.

Every dollar we receive will go to fill pantry shelves!

2. Donate taxable items (listed above) to United Way of Lake County by e-mailing Gayle Sikula or calling her at 440.639.1082.

3. Another FUN and EASY way to help is to dine at Applebee's or Max & Erma's on June 22. These restaurants will donate 15% to 20% of your meal to Day of Caring!

Spa Pedicures: this will consist of a more a facial for the feet! with massage,moisturizing mask, nail shaping sugar scrub and foot filing. And a beautiful polish with a non chip coat to keep you looking pretty at the beach! this is the $60-75 dollar range

Express pedicures : A cleansing refreshing soak with a complete nail care light foot massage and lotion application. this is a great in between the spa service that you need to start with. Perfect polish to finish. It is a $40- 50 dollar range

Men's pedicure: the same deluxe treatment but a more earth scent and a buff and shine for a more natural look.

Do; bring pedi socks: these are socks you were after a Pedi- cure that can be worn with sandals to keep your feet warm

Do: Buy the polish you get on your toe's. The Katie Perry collection did not last long in stores.

Do: Book your appointment with your professional salon now: good technicians book up fast

Do; Remember we spend most of our day on our feet. The need love and attention too.

Don't let anyone use a used file on your foot. All files are to be new and opened in front of you.

Don't let price determine what is best for you. Think sanitation first.
